Made with care, meant to be treasured
The Craft of the Bespoke Heritage Kilt, A kilt made once. Made for you. Made by Hand.
There is a profound difference between a kilt that is made to a size and one that is made for a person.
At Bee Kilted by Jenny, every kilt is individually crafted by hand, with the patience, precision and understanding that traditional kiltmaking demands.
This is not production-line Highland wear. It is bespoke tailoring in tartan.

Crafted around You
A traditional heritage kilt should not merely fit the measurements recorded on a form. It should work with the person who wears it.
From the moment the cloth is selected, every decision is considered. The scale and character of the tartan, the placement of the sett, the direction of the pleats and the shaping of the garment are all brought together to create something entirely individual.
At Bee Kilted by Jenny each kilt is carefully shaped to the individual, taking account of the natural contours of the body to create a comfortable and beautifully balanced garment.
The pleating is designed with equal care. Whether pleated to the stripe or to the sett, the tartan is positioned to create harmony around the body, allowing the pleats to move naturally and giving the finished kilt its distinctive character.
This attention to proportion and detail is what transforms tartan cloth into a truly bespoke garment.
This particular kilt is made from my client's home county tartan and included in the fringing is his old school tie.
Why Bee Kilted by Jenny?
-
The luxury of craftsmanship
True luxury is rarely about excess. It is about time, skill and attention. A hand-sewn kilt takes many hours to create. Each stitch is placed deliberately. Each section is shaped and finished with care. The process cannot simply be hurried without changing the nature of the garment itself. That time is part of what you are commissioning. You are choosing the skill of the maker, the individuality of a garment created specifically for you, and the enduring quality of traditional craftsmanship.
-
Tartan with a sense of purpose
Tartan carries history, identity and meaning. It deserves to be treated with respect. Rather than simply cutting cloth to a predetermined pattern, bespoke kiltmaking considers how the tartan will live on the finished garment — how its colours, lines and sett will meet, flow and move when worn. The result is a kilt in which the cloth and craftsmanship become one.
-
An heirloom in the making
A bespoke heritage kilt is intended to outlive fashion. It may be commissioned for a wedding, a significant celebration or simply because you value the tradition and craftsmanship of a properly made kilt. Whatever brings you to the kilt, the intention is the same: to create something worthy of being treasured. With care, it can accompany you for decades, gathering memories and stories along the way. Perhaps, one day, it will be worn by someone else.
The Jenny difference
Having been taught to sew by my grandmother, who was a seamstress and a kiltmaker. I was then taught to make Kilts by Paula Duncan, who is not only a Master Kiltmaker but also an incredible tutor and mentor. It is from both these amazing women, that I have developed my belief that traditional kiltmaking is a craft worth preserving. My approach is deliberately personal and uncompromising: one wearer, one design, one kilt at a time. I specialise in traditional hand-stitched heritage kilts, individually shaped and crafted with an appreciation for the cloth, the wearer and the heritage behind the garment.
